Our Favorite Campground So Far
On our recent 2017 Summer Road Trip, we found a new favorite campground. Our trip started in Luray, Virginia at the Luray KOA. From the time we drove into the entrance, we were amazed.
The Most Picturesque Campground Ever
Our first impression was the beautiful rural scenery, and how well maintained the campground was. It is surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and farm land. There is not a bad view anywhere you look. It was love at first site, lol. (Sorry couldn’t help myself.)
When we arrived to check in, Jennifer was there to greet us with a smile. She didn’t like the site they had us at, so she changed it to another one. Our check in process was so smooth and easy. She gave us a map with the route to our spot highlighted and we located it with no problems.
The campsites have large level gravel pads. Deluxe sites also come with large concrete patios with either a patio table and 4 chairs or a picnic table. You also get two Adirondack chairs and lovely stone fire pits. Our site had a separate concrete patio with the chairs next to the fire pit. #25 is the best site in the campground in my opinion.
This campground is so well maintained. The grass is like gorgeous green carpet. The chairs and picnic tables all coordinate and look freshly painted. The campground is spotless. They have both pull through and back in sites with 20/30 or 30/50 amp service. All RV sites have water and sewer hook ups.
No RV, No Problem!
Luray KOA also offers options for those without campers and RVs. Besides their beautiful regular and deluxe tent sites, they also offer 1 and 2 bedroom cabins, as well as a yurt!
There is a small lobby at registration with couches, books, and games.
Don’t forget to stop by the snack bar for some ice cream on your way back to camp!
There is a large pavilion for hanging out or parties complete with a brick oven for pizza.
They have nice playground for the little ones.
Scout loved their Dog Park, he even met a girlfiend there!
They also have a volleyball court and ping pong.
Plus two sparkling swimming pools and a large courtyard perfect for summer games.
The Laundry and Bath House is conveniently located next to the tent sites.
If by some chance you run out of things to do at the campground, they are close to so many great local activities! They are less than 5 miles away from lovely Luray, Virginia. It amazed me at how much the small town has to offer! You are also only about 20 minutes drive from Shenandoah National Park. We always encourage you to #FindYourPark! No visit to the area would be complete without stopping by Luray Caverns, a US Natural Landmark and geological wonder.
We love camping with KOA Campgrounds, and this one was the best yet. It is perfect for couples, families, and they are so pet friendly! We met lots of other campers there. You can’t beat sitting around the fire with new friends and a spectacular view. We can’t wait to back!
