The Liebster Award
The Liebster award is award is an internet award given to new bloggers from other bloggers. Liebster is a German word that means sweetest, kindest, nicest, valued, endearing, beloved, kind, and welcome. The definition really fits because it is the best way to support the blogging community. We think this is an incredible award. It is so amazing and gratifying to get an award from others in your field and nice to be recognized for all your hard work from others out there doing the same thing!

Q and A with the Adventuredawgs
- What made you start blogging, and how long have you been?
Cheryl and Tom: We have been traveling for years and posting our adventures on Facebook. We are also always giving travel advice and tips to friends, family, even strangers we meet. Finally, we love talking travel, meeting new people, and I am an avid reader of blogs and Pinterest. I’ve wanted to start a blog for a couple years and finally stoped dreaming and started doing in January 2017. The goal is that hopefully someday, the blog will allow us to travel full time.
Rhiannon: I started blogging because my mom (Cheryl) made me. She said it would be good for me and look great on a college application (geez, I’m only 13!). I have always kept a handwritten travel journal and the more blogs I write, the more I’m getting into it.
- What is your dream career and why?
Tom: I my dream career is to be retired and travel full time.
Cheryl: My dream career would be a full time travel blogger where we could travel full time. When I was younger my dream career was to be a singer 🙂
Rhiannon: If I could do anything, I would be a singer/recording artist and travel the world! If I have to get a “real” job, I want to be a teacher.
- Where is your favorite travel destination and why?
Tom: Olympic National Park has been my favorite destination visited so far, as well as my favorite US National Park. What I liked most about it was the diversity with temperate rainforests, the mountains, and the rocky beaches. You could easily spend two weeks there and never see the same thing twice.
Cheryl: Olympic is my favorite National Park, specifically Willoughby Campground at Lake Quinault. My favorite destination though is the next one on the list. Each is different in it’s own way plus my favorite part of traveling is seeing and experiencing new places and cultures. That’s what happens when you get bitten by the wanderlust bug!
Rhiannon: Arizona has been my favorite travel destination so far. I loved Tombstone (writing a throwback post right now!), we went up in an air balloon, and I earned my favorite Jr Ranger badge there at Ft. Bowie National Monument.
- What is your number one piece of advice to new bloggers?
Tom and Rhiannon: Don’t get frustrated if you’re not growing as quickly as you think you should. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
Cheryl: Other bloggers are your best resource! Network, network, network!
- If you could go anywhere right now, where would it be and why?
Tom: That’s a tough one, I guess if I could go ANYWHERE right now, I think I would go to Alaska. The remoteness and mountains appeals to me, the wild wilderness feel of it. I also would like to go while I’m young and healthy enough to enjoy the wild adventure of it.
Cheryl: If I could go anywhere right now, it would be Ireland or (and!) Scotland. I have ancestry there on both sides of my family, and I’ve always been
obsessed interested in Celtic culture and history. (and Celtic mythology, I did name my daughter Rhiannon after all!) I don’t want to visit and be a tourist. I want to experience being a local. I’d love to live in either or both countries for an extended period of time.
Rhiannon: New York City, everything starts and finishes there in my mind. I’d love to live there one day. There were also things I didn’t get to see and do when we visited for my 13th birthday: like see a Broadway show, go shopping, and visit the Statue of Liberty.
- Tell us about your worst travel experience
Tom: Probably my worst was southern California, there is not much to see out there. I thought it was pretty desolate and it was one of the worst motorcycle rides I’ve taken. It still was an experience though and a great story (Check out Sandblasted in Cali!) so I don’t regret it at all.
Cheryl: I don’t think I have a worst travel experience. Sure, we have had some travel fails ,like everyone, but you’re still traveling so how can that be bad? Some of our detours have turned into some of our best adventures and stories.
Rhiannon: Some of the LONG car rides, but they’re worth it after you get there.
Great questions from Sean and Rhianne, they really made us think and we enjoyed answering them. We tackled them as we do everything, as a family!
